How to get there

Getting to Denmark is easy. Denmark is a peninsula in Northern Europe, which means you can go by car or train from any of the North European countries. Aarhus is close to the E45 motorway.


There are flights from several destinations throughout the world to three different airports in Denmark. If you arrive in Copenhagen Airport – the largest in Scandinavia – you can either choose to fly on to Billund Airport or Aarhus Airport, or you can travel by train or rent a car. From Billund and Aarhus Airport there are airport busses to Aarhus.


By plane

Aarhus Airport (Tirstrup) located 40 km north-east of Aarhus, offers direct international flight connections to Gdansk, Helsinki, London, Malaga, Oslo, Stockholm.


Billund Airport located 100 km south of Aarhus, has direct international flight connections to Alghero, Alicante, Amsterdam, Antalya, Barcelona Girona, Bergen, Brussels, Chania, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Edinburgh, Faro, Frankfurt, Gran Canaria, London City, London Gatwick, London Stansted, Madeira, Malaga, Malaga, Mallorca, Mallorca, Malta, Manchester, Milano Bergamo, München, Oslo, Paris, Pisa, Prag, Riga, Rom Ciampino, Salzburg, Stavanger, Stockholm Arlanda, Tenerife South, Trapani, Vagar.


Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) - with 65 airlines operating from Copenhagen Airport, and with more than 20 million passengers every year, is Scandinavia’s biggest airport.

 

Airport shuttle busses

There is a bus service to Aarhus from Aarhus Airport and Billund Airport. Tickets are sold on the bus. Most foreign currencies and credit cards are accepted. The travel time from Aarhus Airport to the city of Aarhus is approx. 45 minutes. One-way fare from Aarhus DKK 100. There are predefined stops along the route, final stop is at the railway station (Banegården).


The travel time from Billund to Aarhus is approx. 1 hour. One-way fare from Billund DKK 180. The bus stops at the main entrance at Radisson SAS Hotel/Scandinavian Congress Center.

If you land at Copenhagen Airport, you can take the train directly from the airport to Aarhus.


By train

The train from Copenhagen to Aarhus operates on an hourly basis. Travelling time is approximately 3 hours. There is a direct train connection from Copenhagen Airport to Aarhus. By ferry

There is a ferry service between Aarhus and Kalundborg, Aarhus and Sjællands Odde (catamaran) and from Norway and Sweden to Frederikshavn and Grenaa.


By car

As in all parts of Denmark, Aarhus has an efficient road network which allows easy driving access directly to the city – Hamburg and Copenhagen are only a 3-hour drive each. It is possible to park at the venue.

 

Accommodation

Participants will be expected to make their own accommodation arrangements.

The main possibilities are listed below. There are four main accommodation categories, distinguished in the first place by cost.

 We have reserved rooms at three locations:

 

(a) First Hotel Atlantic

Located between the harbor and the center. Price: ca. 104 euros/night.

(b) Cabinn Hotel

Located in the Center. Two types of rooms are available: economy (the cheapest and VERY basic rooms: ca. 65 euros/night, just room enough to sleep), and commodore (somewhat closer to normal hotel rooms, ca. 77 euros/night).

(c) University Guest House - 10 rooms available

Located a short 5-10 minute walk from the Conference premises, approximately two kilometers from the city center. No breakfast is served, but there are kitchen facilities, and there is a small shopping mall with a large supermarket opposite the guesthouse. Shared bathroom facilities. The price for a single room is DKK 360. The price for a double room is DKK 500.

People of all ages are welcome at the Danhostel, located close to the beach, in Riisskov forest, slightly outside the city and approximately two kilometers from the conference site.

 

The price of a dormitory bed in a dormitory is 200 DKK. The price for a family room ranges from 456 to 684 DKK per night.
